We Are People of the Book
This is your sub-headline

At Northside, our authority is not tradition, popular opinion, or any man-made creed. We have no creed but Christ, and no catechism but His inspired Word—the Bible. We believe the Scriptures are the fully inspired, all-sufficient Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and we are resolved to do all things according to the will of the Lord (Colossians 3:17).

This commitment to Bible authority shapes everything we preach and practice. We do not claim the right to add to, take away from, or alter what God has revealed. When the New Testament is silent, we remain silent. When it speaks, we speak. Our goal is simple: to be the church you read about in the Bible—doing Bible things in Bible ways.

What You Will Notice When You Visit

Because we take the authority of Scripture seriously, certain things stand out in our assemblies:

Congregational singing. We sing a cappella—without instrumental accompaniment—because that is the pattern we find in the New Testament (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16). The whole congregation participates together in songs of praise, teaching, and thanksgiving.

The Lord’s Supper every Sunday. We begin each week by remembering the Lord’s sacrifice for our sins. Every first day of the week we partake of the Lord’s Supper in memory of Christ’s death, just as the early church did (Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26). This is how we start every week—putting God first and remembering the great sacrifice He made for us. It is not an occasional observance but a weekly memorial of the price paid to purchase the church.

Book, chapter, and verse preaching and teaching. You will hear Scripture opened, read, and explained. Our lessons are grounded in the text itself. We strive to give book, chapter, and verse for what we believe and practice so that every hearer can search the Scriptures and see whether these things are so (Acts 17:11).

These practices are not preferences or traditions of men—they are the natural result of submitting to the authority of God’s Word. We invite you to open your Bible with us, examine what we teach, and see for yourself.
